Now there is a God Damn question, I guess you just are a little curious aren't you ....
Well there is going to be quite a bit more on configuring PHP and Configuring a MysQL Server as well, many people struggle to get php and MySQL Set up properly so that it works and so that it also report appropriate errors when you are coding in PHP, we love PHP, infact if you can think of something you can do, there is a function in php that can do it! nice...
We are going to develop the Call Our Calculator quite a bit, there are many things that can be improved with it, at the moment it holds I think over 50 post codes, can't remmemember!! the exact number, but we intend to add more and we intend to also make it easier to use and also able to distingish smaller areas than it can at present. Call out Costs are charged by us but we aree quite fair, the cost is dependant upon the distance you are away from us, thats fair isn't it.

We intend to do a fair amount of SEO on our site in the very near future, this will include Key Word Analysis for which we are probably going to need to pay for, and we are likely to be pushing our SEO One Day Rigrerous and Intensive Course, which is currently not as yet fully booked..... But we will get some more bookings we have had interest before as well as some very Happy Delegates on the Course.

Chephrenrepairs.com is constantley being developed, thats what a good web site should be! How good your web site is right now is irrelavent, it is as important as fleas chocking and Cowering in the muddy filth below you feet, ........ what matters is what is your Vision for it to become in the fullness of time! A Web Site that is built by some boffin with long naisel hair Web Designer and then left alone for months is a Dead Web Site and should have its last rights read and then dispatched in a summary fashion perhaps by being sliced to Ribbons with a Samuris blade.!!!
Most of our Pages on our SEO Intensive and Rigerous Search Engine Optimisation Course Held in Central Reading in the Royal County of Berkshire are going to be added to in the next few weeks or so, infact we are going to add a very shore sorry meant short and snazzey booking form to our SEO Course pages, that will look cool and Business like.

First thing to check is what does the Apache Monitor say when you open it. Thats the little white circle with the green arrow in it pointing to the right and the red feather sticking out of it in the Task bar -- Right Click on it, and Choose Open Apache Monitor, what do you see, well you should see something like a dialog box with like a green light on the left, and right at the bottom something like Apache/2.0.63(win32)PHP/5.2.10
also, if you hover your mouse over the little green arrow in the white circle you should see a little whitish box and in it is thould say Running All Apache Services.

Now you can write a very short web page that tests whether php is ther or not, fire up the browser, we we using Dreamweaver, then open a php web page, in between the body and the closing body tag type:-

open php tag
phpinfo();
close php tag

Save the file put it to you test server, that is on your local machine. Then point your browser at 127.0.0.1/chepheren. We Created a folder inside the main public space on the web server, Thus inside Program Files/Apache Group/Apsche2/htdocs there is a folder called chephren, all the local web pages will be put in there.
Once you open the browser in the right place you ill see a list of files that are there, one of them will be the file you just created, you must have given it a name when you creared it ! just click on it once with the left mouse button a page should open and say php version 5.2.10 system windows NT CHEPHREN-594234 5.1 build 2600 and under that a load of other stuff, infact that is all the configuration of php, there is quite a lot of it. The point is that if you can see it php is working.

Yep we woke you on Saturday morning drank some tea and then someone at chephrenrepairs.com said... look you simply have got to get you main page with just valid HTML in it and displaying correctly in IE and in Firefox.
Well thats given us something to do... There is an HTML Validator at this address> HTML Validator
Making all your page valid HTML is tricky and it is a long conversation, but to start of you need to look at the top of your page:
here we see some html, it is a document type tag which starts like this:

DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//

but look it mentions xhtml, this demands diffrent ways of writting html tags, xml has its own naming conventions and tag name are case sensative. Also there are a whole bunch of other requrements that your tags have to adhear to, and too many to mention here.

Comming back to the displaying correctly in IE and Firefox, the thing to do is to design first for Firefox and get that right first. Then it may be possible for you to use Javascript to detect the browser type and then basically alter the position of elements on the page if the viewer is using IE (Internet Explorer).

How You go about doing this is another conversation that we need to have, do you use CSS style sheets or do you just create a lot of html that is diffrent for each browser!? CSS is a slicker way but requires that you know quite a lot about how to use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).
We are going to investigate, and for now have changed the Home Page of Chephrenrepairs.com so if you do load it in Internet Explorer at least is shows you a link to be able to download Firefox. The problem with the home page of Chephrenrepairs.com is that it does not position all the elements so you can read them if you are using Internet Explorer.
We are working to fix this and how we do it will be of course on the Computer Fixer Blog..
We do have an rss feed, where is out rss feed well to save you looking for it here is a link RSSAlso you will find a small RSS symbol right at the bottom of this blog, it is inbetween valid css and backto top buttons.

Wow...... thats a long title for a blog article isn't it.... We are going to talk about setting up a development environment on a local pc or Laptop, and that development environment will include a web server (Apache) a fully working PHP, that is a scripting language and a fully working MySQL Server all running locally on your own computer.....
Why do you need this, welll put very simply to test your pages that use php and mysql databases on a local machine before you put them up to the live web server... Thats why...
Your first job is to down load and install Apache..... sounds simple, well yes and know........

You need firstly to select the right version of Apache to download, you need (if you are running windows on your computer) the version that is for windows...
Firstly go to ; http://httpd.apache.org/
here you will see lots of writing, but look carefuklly and you will see sections for diffrent versions of apache, and in each section there is a little link called download. We went for Apache 2.0.63
To be precise we went for apache_2.0.63-win32-x86-openssl-0.9.7m.msi
This is a windows installer package you download it to your computer and once it is downloaded you will find it My Documents/Downloads ... look here we are talking about Microsoft Windows XP Home!!!
Once it is dowloaded you double click on it with the left mouse button, to start the installation, you will be asked a few questions along the way and in this blog we give you the answers to these questions...... right here.

Remember that Apache can not be installed on just any windows operating system, and to be precise any windows operating system..... to cut a long conversation short you need Windows XP Service Pack 2, or Service Pack 3 right, so get that installed first, if you have XP with no service pack or with only service pack 1, thats no good...

It is worth doing a little reading before you carry on, and we are going to give you a link to that bit of reading, essentially you have to answer a few questions when you install apache, the questions are:

1. What is your Network Domain,
2.What is your Server Name,
3. Administrators E ,mail address,
4. For whome to install Apache, and will it run as a service
5. Installation type and
6. Where to install

The answers to these are:
1. mydomain.net
2. server.mydomain.net
3.me@mydomain.net
4. You want all users on port 80 as a service, this means that the apache server will listen to port 80, it also means that every user has access to it and Apache will start up itself automatically once you have booted your computer, thats exactly what you want.
5.select installation type Typical
6. Just choose the default path which will be C:\Program Files\Apache Group

So heres the link to the page I sugest you read carefully notes on apache2.0 Installation

How can you check that Apache is working correctly, well we tell you here, and then if you want to read on about how to get php and Mysql working you will need to read the next installment of All about httpd.conf php.ini Mysql support for PHP, manual Installation of Apache, PHP and MySQL

Once Apache is installed you should see a little white circle with a small green arrow in it pointing to the right and a small red feather sticking out of it, this is the Apache Monitor, it will indicate if Apache is running correctly or is stopped ot started.

If you open up your browser you should put in trhe address bar:
http://127.0.0.1 or http://127.0.0.1/
You will see a page that says ; if you can see this, it means that the installation of the Apache web server software on this system was sucessful.

I Hope you have read parts 1 and 2 and have not been to frustrated waiting for part 3!!
We are back talking about that wi - fi connection problem on the laptop, if you remember from previous parts we did some backing up of the drive using Acronis True Image Home 2009, you should remmember that with Acronis True Image you can chose to back up an entire disk even if it has more than one partition on it or to back up indervidual partitions, It is the first of these two that you want -- ok

We looked at the problem a little closer and as described in parts 2 and 1 the machine was connnecting and then unconnecting and then reconnecting to out Wi- Fi network in fairly quick succession....
So question one is well is this being caused by hardfware or software problems....... a qood question and one that should be at the front of your mind you know where you can ponder it???!!!

We noticed that there was a program called Virgin Wireless Assistant that appeared to be running, and the computer was previously happily connected to a BT Home Hub, so we thought probably some one has connected the comuter t o a diffrent Internet connection most probably a Virgin Media one, that is of course cable, and some how inadverantly or deliberately installed this Virgin Wireless Assistant...
Further investigation revealled that the program had in it a few options and one was to not run it at start up, you choose this by unticking a box in the softwares options. Now we were able to connect reliably to the internet using IE, Internet Expplorer to you and me...
But strangely when we down loaded firefox, that is an open sourse browser, this browser installed but could not connect via our firefox browser, odd, we downloaded Lavasoft Add Aware and tried to update it, it dowloaded ok but could not update.. very odd indeed.....
It look like there is still something wrong.....
This blog is like one of those Old Cheese Shops where you can see the Master Computer Fixer at work like when you watch the cheese maker making the cheese though a Window!!!>>..

We thought a bit, what to do the machine still fails to connect correctly to the Wi- Fi Network and it is only 3 feet from the Router....

We knew that there was a hiden partition on the drive and this hidden partion is there to allow you to put the computer back to factory state, but how to access it and did we really want to do that on the customers main hard disk drive.... of course not.... why because it will overwrite the entire Windows partion loosing in one go all installed applkications and data all at once.

Instead we took the backup of the entire disk and restored this to a new Fujisu disk, then we thought , how to access the hidden partition, well on a compaq there is a menu option in Windows to get to the program that will make a dvd that is bootable and one that will restore the computer back to how it came out of the factory, it says you can only do this once that seems harsh, very harsh since the manufacturer has not given you a Windows Vista DVD have they........!!!!!

Anyway, you can run this program and it makes an iso image, and you can put this on a DVD, we used a DVD -R a regular dvd not a duel layered one. the process is slow so be patient.....
