Your Firewall May well be the thing that prevents you from getting everything Working...........

In order for the New Netgear ADSL Wireless Router to work the DHCP Server part of the Box must be ON or enabled. Now luckily this is enabled by default, but in order for your computer to be able to talk to the Router, the Router must give out a temporarily leased ip address to your computer and your computer must get this ip address fairly quickly after it has been turned on, otherwise there will be no communication with the Router what so ever, because the windows operating system will not try forever to get an ip address from the Router, but will instead give the computer an internal ip address starting with the number 169.

There are several reasons why your computer may not get a temporary ip, address the top reasons are as follows:

Your Firewall has blocked
communication between the Computer and the Router. You can turn off the Firewall, here I am talking about a software Firewall you have on your computer not the inbuilt hardware firewall in the Router itself!!! or you create a firewall rule to let all traffic into your computer....

You have configured the Router correctly, and all was ok then you reconfigure the router for some reason and do not boot your computers afterwards. Reboot all the computers that you want to find the Wireless network.

You have switched on your computers and then your Router, and all the computers gave themselves an internal ip address ages before you switched on the Router and then the computers never looked to see if their was a Wireless network available. Switch on your ADSL Wireless Router 5 minutes before you turn on your computers.

You have a Laptop with an inbuilt Wireless capability to use Wireless networks, and the laptop has a particular key sequence to turn on the wireless internal card, but you have not turned it on or do not know how to! Read all you laptop manuals to discover which key sequence turns on the Wireless Network capability and then do what is says. Often this requires pressing a function key plus the shift key, but look it up in the manuals or on the manufacturers web site or ring the manufacturer.
