Your Firewall May well be the thing that prevents you from getting everything Working...........In order for the New Netgear ADSL Wireless Router to work the DHCP Server part of the Box must be ON or enabled. Now luckily this is enabled by default, but in order for your computer to be able to talk to the Router, the Router must give out a temporarily leased ip address to your computer and your computer must get this ip address fairly quickly after it has been turned on, otherwise there will be no communication with the Router what so ever, because the windows operating system will not try forever to get an ip address from the Router, but will instead give the computer an internal ip address starting with the number 169. There are several reasons why your computer may not get a temporary ip, address the top reasons are as follows:
