The Oracle --- What if the hard disk just can't boot up what then!? | ||||

If your computer will not start up there are a number of things to suspect and a number of things to do. Sometimes the Hard Disk gets a little screwed up and can not find some sectors or clusters on the disk, and of course if these are important ones the Operating System can not start. There's are in fact many things to try but we mention two or three of them here.
If the disk sounds like its still alive, and there is a graphics card in the machine that perhaps has a little glowing light on it, then may be the Graphics card is OK and may be the Hard Disk Drive can be rescued. Try putting in to the machine (assuming it is Windows XP) a New Windows XP CD into the CD Rom Drive, Boot from this CD Rom , do not choose to reinstall XP instead choose to go to the CMD or command prompt and from here Type chkdsk c: /r and press Return Key, (thats the Big one on the right off the keyboard usually next to the ] Key): The computer will run a program called chkdsk but it may well sort out you Hard Disk Drive, and does not involve buying any thing, unless you have lost your Windows XP CD Rom. Note that you may need to wait some time for it to finish and the bigger the disk the longer the wait. Latter in this article I will explaine How to make sure the PC does boot from this CD Rom and how to get into the command prompt once you have done.
